Road Runner Media Partners with Place Exchange to Activate Programmatic Buying of Its Mobile Digital Out Of Home Network

April 07, 2021

Growing network of digital screens mounted to commercial vehicle fleets and buses now available to programmatic buyers via leading OOH SSP.

Rancho Santa Margarita, CA – April 7, 2021Road Runner Media, a mobile Digital Out Of Home (mDOOH) media company driving the future of road safety and advertising, today announced a strategic partnership with Place Exchange, a leading supply-side platform (SSP) for programmatic DOOH media. Through this partnership, the entirety of Road Runner’s mobile digital national media network, consisting of connected screens mounted to fleets of moving commercial vehicles, is now available to be bought programmatically by brand marketers and omnichannel media buyers.

Place Exchange connects with demand-side platforms (DSPs) such as AdQuick, Amobee, MediaMath, OutMoove, Roku, The Trade Desk, Ubimo and Verizon Media to power the activation of programmatic DOOH advertising campaigns. The company’s patented technology enables omnichannel DSPs to unify the buying and measurement of DOOH media with other digital channels.

“In committing Road Runner’s national inventory to the Place Exchange programmatic platform, we are providing brands and agencies the opportunity to further maximize media investments, expand the reach of their message, and target audiences with ease, flexibility and precision via a new mDOOH channel,” said Chris Riley, CEO of Road Runner Media. “Place Exchange is the leading SSP fully connected to demand-side platforms utilized by DOOH programmatic buyers. We have already seen campaigns come through the Place Exchange platform since the start of the year, and we are confident this partnership will accelerate activations and revenue growth across our emerging network.”

Road Runner formally emerged from beta last month after securing both $62.5 million in growth financing and a major commercial agreement with Siemens, who will install 2,500 Road Runner digital screens on the rear of technicians’ vans. The ruggedized Samsung connected screens display brand advertising and a wide range of content when the vehicle is in motion. The screens also serve as a 46” high-resolution, LCD Digital Brake Light, helping to improve vehicle and road safety by alerting surrounding drivers when the vehicle operator brakes, selects turn signals, reverses or activates emergency flashers.

“We are excited to partner with Road Runner and to offer the company’s growing mobile, location-based mDOOH network to media buyers,” said Ari Buchalter, CEO of Place Exchange. “Road Runner’s network is a valuable and unique new channel that presents opportunities for brand advertisers seeking to leverage the power of mDOOH and the ease of programmatic buying to expand their messages, reach and frequency while connecting with consumer audiences no matter where they may be.”
